Guide To Preteen Construction Toys Buying
Construction toys are wonderful child educational toys
to have for your school-age kids.
There are many types of construction toys available for this age group.
Your elementary school-age kids (6-8 years) will love these toys: - Small size interlocking blocks such as Lego.
- Any construction tool sets which consist of nuts, bolts, pre-drilled pieces, wrench, etc such as Erector or K'NEX set.
- Toy set consisting of wooden wheel-like spool and multiple dowels which can be connected to create any form and shapes such as Tinker Toy.
- Magnetic toy set where children can connect the magnetic pieces to create any form such as Magz toy. You may also want to try Tomy Constructables since they have construction set featuring battery power pack which connects to 14 other magnetic pieces to make a vehicle.
- Construction set to make a marble roller coaster.
Older kids (9-12 years) will love to have more intricate construction toys. Some toys aimed for this age group are also motorized. - The most advanced form of interlocking blocks and construction tool set from company like Lego, Erector and K'NEx.
- Magnetic construction toy such as Magz toy.
- Advance construction set like Capsela which enables kids to construct and learn about electronics, machinery, mechanics and energy at once. Using this set, your kids will be able to construct something as complex as weather station.
- 'Bone' construction set where your kids can construct skeletons of various things. This set is made by BC Bones.
There is also another building toy set which I think is terrific for your preteens. Real-Stone Bricks by Kidology has several sets of equipment and material to make historical building miniature. Your kids basically have to mix the special mortar in the mini-sized wheelbarrow, then follow the step-by-step instructions for building each spectacular structure with real kiln-fired bricks. This mortar dissolves in water, so your kids can practically 'disassemble' the building and make a new one.
Let your kids be creative and always talk to your kids about the end product.
Happy constructing !
