Children love these kinds of toys because they love the sense of movement they get from riding these toys and also because child ride on toys allow the children to imitate the important adults in their lives. Kid ride on toys are also important for perfecting children's balance and coordination, as well as giving children the physical exercise that they need.

Child ride-on toys buying guide.
It is important to look into the age-appropriateness of the particular child riding toys you are going to buy. Several things determine whether a particular child ride-on toy is appropriate for your child.

First, the size and shape of the child ride-on toy. Determine these following things:

  • whether the toy is going to be too big or too small for your child.
  • how easy it is going to be for your child to get on and off the toy by herself.
  • the width of the vehicle. The more widely spaced the wheels are, the easier it is to balance. Therefore, any child ride-on toys for small children will need to have wheels which are widely spaced.

Second, The skills required to operate the child riding toy. Two things need to look into when trying to determine the appropriateness of this kind of toys:

  • Speed of the vehicle. Child ride-on toys which move fast are obviously more difficult to handle. Hence they are only suitable for older children.
  • Methods of propulsion. Pedaling requires more skills than just rocking or moving the vehicle using feet. Therefore, buy your toddler sit-on riders or rocking toys, but don't buy your young toddler pedal toys which requires pedaling.

Third, level of realism/details .Usually older children will love to have their toys resemble the real things. Therefore, tractor, car and motor-cycle type of kid riding toys appeal more to the older children.
