How to help your toddler or older baby to walk.
These followings are the use of push along toys to help toddler to walk or to improve toddler motor skills:
- Use the toddler push toys to encourage your baby to stand.
This activity can be done if your baby is not yet walking independently but showing desire to walk, usually around 10-12 months of age.
At this stage, I do not recommend you to use a proper push along toy since the handle may be too high for your baby to reach. Instead, you may want to get a sturdy ride on toy with a handle at the back , since they will definitely be low enough for your baby to reach.
Or, buy a push toy designed specifically to act as a walker. This push toys are usually heavy to prevent it from tipping off when your toddler reaches for it. Start by putting your baby's hand at the handle and encourage your baby to stand up. P
Practice this daily. Once you think your baby is stable, hold your baby's hand and encourage him to make a step.
- Use the toddler push toys to encourage your baby to walk.
After doing several practice of walking with you, your baby will usually try to walk on its own for several steps. At this stage, you can accelerate the process by which your toddler learn to walk by introducing your toddler to the push toys with low handle.
If you keep on encouraging your toddler to use his toddler push toy, this toy will soon provide plenty of 'walking' practice for him so that he can later on walk independently.
This toy is also good to boost their confidence too ("Hey mom ... see .... I can walk by myself !!")

If you need to get a walker or push toys to help your toddler or baby to begin to walk or even stand, then I recommend you to buy a sturdy walker to prevent it from tipping off as your child trying to reach the handle.
There are three such baby walkers available in the market today.
First, is HABA walker wagon by HABA from Germany. This walker of high quality and stable, yet easy to manouvre. However, a young toddler may still have some body coordination issue to prevent him to manouvre a push toy properly.
So make sure you help your toddler to manouver it.

Second, is the classic walker wagon by Radio Flyer. This walker is well-made and sturdy.
However, it's also heavy, so you might need to help your young toddler to manouver it, especially when it's stuck to the wall.
Before buying it, it's important to know that a small number of customers complaining that there are small pieces which break off and can cause choking in small children. You can buy it online here
If you are turned off by the weight of the two toddler push toys I mentioned earlier, you may want to get HABA pushing car. It's not as heavy, yet it's sturdy. If you think that it's not heavy enough, you can easily put something on the 'car' to weigh it down, at least until your toddler doesn't need the push toy to help him to stand.
At that point, you can take off the weight, and it becomes a lighter push toys which will delight your toddler, as he roams around the room carrying his favorite toys in the car.
