How to Buy A Toy Hammock

Toy hammock is a popular system for storing stuffed animals. It consists of a nylon net or nylon mesh with loops at the two ends. This net can then be hung at the corner of the wall using hooks. The main advantage of buying a stuffed animal hammock is it's cheap cheap cheap.

But, should you use a hammock for storing stuffed animal ?

Although stuffed toy hammock is a popular way for people to store stuffed animal (it's cheap, by the way), I find that it is only suitable for certain circumstances. In order to determine whether this is the right system for you, consider these things: the amount, size and the weight of stuffed animals your children have.

In my opinion, a stuffed toy hammock is only suitable if your child has only a couple of small stuffed animals, since it will be able to hold these toys well , it'll look pretty in the room, and it uses spaces high up on the wall which otherwise would not have been used.

However, if your child has, say 20 medium stuffed animals, then it might not be a good storage system to buy. Remember, in order to be able to use this storage system effectively, most of the stuffed toys have to be small enough for the hammock to hold, although I guess you can still squeeze in a few medium sized stuffed toys. In addition, you also have to consider the weight, which bring me to other point.

Many people think they can simply buy a jumbo toy hammock and stuffed a lot of toys in it. Yes, the word 'jumbo' means big. But it is only meaningful in terms of the size. It doesn't say anything about its strength. If the toy storage hammock is not strong enough to begin with, then it does not matter whether it is a jumbo or not. I find that the weakness of a stuffed animal hammock lies on the fact that it is something to be hung on the wall and is not because of the nylon net or nylon mesh giving away. In other words, the limitation lies on the hook.

That's why I personally recommend to use other systems, like The Zoo or toy tree.

• Stuffed animal hammocks with two hooks and loops at the end.
  With this kind of toy hammocks, just put two hooks on two adjacent walls, and hang the hammock. Sometimes this kind of stuffed animal hammocks has stretchy elastics on the side of the hammock which is a good thing since they help to contain the stuffed animal in the hammock. The drawback is that, depending on how you install it, the stuffed animals can fall out easily. You can buy such hammock online for a cheap price.
• Stuffed toy hammocks with three hooks and loops.
  This type of toy hammocks is obviously more sturdy than the ones which have two hooks and loops. In addition, it contains the stuffed animal better. Basically, you put two hooks on two adjacent walls and one at the corner. The nylon net itself is shaped like a triangle with a loop at each end. You can hang this triangular toy net storage using those three hooks. Finally, I want to give you one more tip before you buy any toy storage hammock. If you are planning to buy the hammock online, make sure you mention to the vendor what color you want for your stuffed animal hammock. Don't assume the vendor is going to give you a white hammock like the one shown at their website. After all, you don't want to get a pink stuffed animal hammock for your boy, do you ?
