Toy Storage Ideas for Storing Small Toys

Looking for creative toy storage ideas for storing small-size toys ? You have come to the right place. In this page you will find ideas on how to organize this kind of toys.

I think everyone will agree that small-size toys including toy cars, art supplies, marbles and components of theme-play set (little animals, little people, little plants) are the number one mess-creator. One day you saw them scattered around the house, the next day they dissappear into the thin air. Yes, those little pieces are either lost or scattered everywhere.

So what is the best way to store these small toys ? Here are some toy storage ideas you can consider for storing small toys:

  • Toy storage bins. You can buy toy storage bins and store those small things in the bins. Your child will be able to store and retrieve these small toys easily. If you don't want to buy those store-made toy storage bins, you can always recycle any container around the house. Take the lids off and place them on a shelf. The only drawback of using a toy bin is that the content inside the bin is spillable, and that the bin itself cannot be stacked.
  • Small boxes with lids. Buy tupperware or Rubbermaid-type of boxes and label them with pictures and in writing. Put these small toys inside the box and put them on a toy shelf. Stack them to save space -- but not too high though. Up to three stacks may be the best. If the lid is well-secured, you can put those boxes in a drawer or in a chest. However, if you or your child is not good in making sure that the lid is always well-secured, then discard these toy storage ideas - don't put the unsecured boxes into a chest since cleaning up the spillage of those small toys is a nightmare.
  • Bucket. Get small buckets, label them and place the toys inside. Hang them on pegs. Make sure to hang them low enough for your child to reach.
  • Sturdy plastic bag with a zipper or cloth string bags. These bags are ideal for storing small art supplies including crayon, glitters, pencil and marker. You can then put these bags into a drawer, or a bigger art supply box. Alternatively those cloth bags with string can be hung on pegs.
  • Shoe bags. I think this is a great toy storage idea since each pocket is usually of ideal size for storing small toy cars.
